Kiger Expo & Mustang Challenge
Name: Kiger Expo & Mustang Challenge
Date: September 9, 2017
Time: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM PDT
This the second annual event to benefit mustangs, the only event of its kind in Western Oregon. We learned in our first-ever event last year that it is exciting for the general public who can see wild horses being gentled, and it also draws equestrians who can view adoptable mustangs. Everyone enjoys seeing youth mustang demonstrations and colt-starting. There will be food, wine-tasting by Monte Ferro Wines, hands-on fun, and live music. A Mustang Obstacle Course Challenge will be going on throughout the day, allowing mustang owners to show off the skill of their mighty mustangs (interested mustang owners may go to www.mustangcenter.org, Opportunities & Events, Kiwi Challenge). Also, Kiger Mustangs, a particular breed found in the wild only in Oregon, will show off their unique characteristics and talents. This event will bring the history of wild horses in Oregon to the public and demonstrate the benefits of adopting mustangs. Besides other experienced trainers, Bryan McVicar who is a well-known trainer in New Zealand will be on hand to demonstrate partnership techniques. Current sponsors are Mt. Hood Territory, Wild Horse Mountain Ranch (a 501-c-3 in Sherwood), Gallops Saddlery, Lake Oswego Hunt Club, Wilco, Les Schwab, Performance Plus Restoration, and the Kiger Mesteño Association.
